Mitt Romney’s High School Report Card – Revealed!

By April Sperry on August 9, 2012
Mitt Romney's High School Report Card - Revealed!

What would your old report cards say about you?

Voters are getting a glimpse at the kind of student Mitt Romney was in high school, as one of his report cards is making the rounds on the Internet.

The report card is from the Republication candidate’s freshman year at Cranbrook School in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, dated 1961.

Romney maintained a B average and seemed to moderately impress teachers in most of his classes with his ability, although there were several comments questioning his work ethic.

For example, in Elementary Algebra, the instructor wrote “Mitt started the course with ‘A’ grades. He tended to let up on time studying and had a low mark on his last test. He wastes much time in class.”

The overall assessment of his performance was as such: “Mitt is doing well. He is a more responsible citizen this year.”

Stevie Wonder and Kai Millard Morris to Split

By April Sperry on August 3, 2012

It looks like Stevie Wonder won’t be calling his wife to say “I love you” anytime soon.

After 11 years marriage to fashion designer Kai Millard Morris, the singer has filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences.

TMZ reports that the two have been separated since 2009.

Wonder filed the document with his birth name, Stevland Morris and signed it with two fingerprints.

Wonder and Millard have two children, Kailand and Mandla, ages 10 and 7.

He has requested joint legal and physical custody of the couple’s two children and he has agreed to pay both child and spousal support. Divorce is never a happy subject, but at least this one sounds amicable.

Rob Kicks Kristen Out – and He’s Keeping the Dog!

Rob Kicks Kristen Out - and He's Keeping the Dog!

As you probably know, Hollywood’s favorite vampiric couple – Kristen Stewart andRobert Pattinson – hit the skids after news broke that she had a romantic liaison with the director of “Snow White and the Huntsman,” Rupert Sanders.

Despite Stewart’s groveling apology for her actions, it seems that Pattinson has no intentions of taking her back. He left the $6 million Los Angeles home they shared and hasn’t commented to reporters on the situation.

On Monday, People Magazine reported that Pattinson had asked Stewart to move out of their home. The website also posted photographs of a U-Haul in the driveway of their home.

Now, according to, the couple is locked in a custody battle over Bear, the mutt they adopted together from a high-kill New Orleans animal shelter.

An insider told the website that Stewart “was heartbroken – they adopted Bear together and she always felt that he was their little baby,” but it looks like Sparkles is all out of sympathy points.

And it looks like the question of “who gets the dog” has become an increasingly serious matter. According to MercuryNews, Santa Monica-based divorce attorney David Pisarra told the Associated Press this past February that his office has seen an increase of as much as 15% in pet custody cases over the past five years.

It seems unlikely that these two will work things out, although they are slated to co-present at the MTV’s Music Awards this September… and don’t forget about the upcoming Twilight press tour. That should be awkward.

Have you ever had to ask “who gets the dog?” To what lengths would you go in order to keep your pet during a split? Let us know!

Blind Archer Sets Olympic Record – Already!

By April Sperry on July 27, 2012

It’s only the first day of the Olympic Games, and records are already being broken.

Im Dong Hyun of South Korea has set the official record to beat in the 72-arrow archery competition. His score of 699 points has set the bar and beaten previous records in the event.

What’s so impressive about this particular record? It’s not unusual for South Korea to dominate the event – they took the gold at both the 2008 Beijing and 2004 Athens Games.

Well, Im is legally blind. He has about 10% vision in his left eye and 20% in his right. According to the Los Angeles Times, Im has said that “when he looks at the targets, he sees colors with blurred lines and aims by distinguishing between the bright colors of the target.”

We think that’s pretty astonishing, but Im won’t let himself celebrate too early, telling reporters “This is just the first round, so I will not get too excited by it.”

Let the games begin!

Boy with Cerebral Palsy Kicked out of Local Pool

By April Sperry on July 25, 2012
Boy with Cerebral Palsy Kicked out of Local Pool

A child in Pittsburgh with cerebral palsy was escorted out of a local swimming pool by police for wearing a pair of floaties.

Jen Wymer was playing in the pool with her son Max when a lifeguard instructed her to remove the boy’s water wings, citing pool rules.

Wymer told WPXI that she notified the lifeguard “my son has cerebral palsy. He doesn’t walk well and has poor balance,” and asked “could he keep the floaties on?’’ but the lifeguard would not let her. Wymer removed them at first, but after an hour of holding her son afloat, replaced them.

Shortly after, she was approached by lifeguards again, but this time, she refused to remove the floaties. The lifeguards responded by calling the police. Two officers then escorted Wymer and her two children off the premises.

The Allegheny County website says, “Life preservers (even Coast Guard approved) and waterwings ARE PROHIBITED EXCEPT: Specialized floatation devices for disabled patrons only.” According to the Allegheny County Parks Director, the floaties are banned because they promote a false sense of security in the water.

It’s not clear whether or not a patron must provide proof of a medical condition in order to be exempt from the rule, but cerebral palsy certainly qualifies as a disability (and honestly, symptoms of the cerebral palsy are generally visibly obvious, even to someone who might not know much about the disorder).

On Monday, Wymer’s son was allowed back in the pool with the floaties after she gave lifeguards a doctor’s note suggesting that he be allowed to use them.

Rules are rules, but it seems that the lifeguards of the North Park pool took pretty extreme measures in calling the police to defuse the floatie-situation.

What do you think – were their actions warranted? If that happened to you, what would you have done?

Usher’s Stepson Taken Off Life Support

By April Sperry on July 24, 2012

The son of Usher’s ex-wife Tameka Foster has passed away after life support was removed following a boating accident earlier this month.

11-year-old Kile Glover was critically injured when he was struck by a jet-ski on July 6th. Kile and a female friend were playing on an inflatable raft when it was struck by the out of control jet-ski, which was being operated by a family friend.

The boy was airlifted to a nearby hospital and was declared brain dead shortly after being admitted.

“We know God’s in control, and are leaning on our faith in Him and His word,” his family said in a statement to CNN shortly after the accident. “We firmly believe in the power of prayer and ask that you all continue to pray and lift Kile up, as it’s the best way we can all support him now.”

On Saturday morning, Usher and Foster made the heart-wrenching decision to take Kile off life support and he passed away. The Grammy-winning singer, who helped raise the boy since he was 4, was reportedly devastated.

Letting go of a loved one in this manner is one of the most difficult decisions that a friend or family member could be forced to make; it is tempting to hold out, waiting for a miracle.

Our thoughts are with Kile’s family during this difficult time.

Tragic Shooting in Colorado Movie Theater [UPDATED]

Tragic Shooting in Colorado Movie Theater [UPDATED]

Last night’s midnight premiere of the long awaited Batman movie, The Dark Knight Rises, ended in tragedy just outside of Denver, Colorado, in the town of Aurora.

Shortly after the movie began, a lone gunman entered the theater and threw a canister at the ground. The package exploded in a cloud of noxious gas, which overcame movie patrons. The man was also armed with a rifle, a shotgun, and two handguns, which he used to open a Columbine-style shooting rampage.

The shooter has been identified as 24-year-old James Holmes.CBS News reports that he is a 2010 graduate of the University of California, Riverside.

Holmes was reported as wearing all black, including a black mask. At the midnight premiere, many other patrons were dressed in costume, so his appearance likely did not seem out of the ordinary.

An eyewitness told 9News “He looked so calm when he did it,” and it was later reported that Holmes did not resist arrest when he was located outside in the theater’s parking lot. CBS News reports that police have not determined a motive for Holmes’s violence.

At this time, news sources confirm that at least 12 people were killed and 50 wounded. They are being treated at several area hospitals.

Our hearts go out to the victims of this tragedy and their families.

Bus Driver Catches Girl Falling From Building

Bus Driver Catches Girl Falling From Building

Sometimes, you’re just in the right place at the right time. NYC bus driver Stephen St. Bernard certainly was, anyway.

He was walking home from work in Brooklyn, NY when he saw a 7-year-old girl standing on top of an air-conditioning unit sticking out of a third floor apartment window. He yelled to the girl to go back inside, but she slipped and fell off the unit.

In that moment, the 52-year old father of four’s paternal instincts set in and he caught the falling girl, very likely saving her life.

According to the Christian Science Monitor, the girl was later treated for minor injuries from her fall, and St. Bernard was treated for a torn shoulder tendon.

The girl’s mother, Saleema McCree, told reporters that her daughter Keyla is autistic and had slipped through the air conditioner’s accordion side paneling when her mother had stepped out of the room. Charges have not been pressed against the girl’s parents.

In the most endearing news clip of the day, St. Bernard denies neighbors’ claims that he is a hero, saying:

“A hero’s a sandwich. I just saw a kid, and that’s it.”

Obamas Get Caught by Kiss-Cam

Obamas Get Caught by Kiss-Cam

What’s more adorable than two squirming teenagers on the screen of a basketball arena’s kiss-cam? How about seeing Mr. and Mrs. Obama!

The president and first lady took a day off from the campaign trail to catch one of the U.S. vs. Brazil pre-Olympics basketball games when they were picked up by the all-seeing kiss cam during the second quarter. Apparently though, the couple missed the chance to smooch the first time around!

According to the Los Angeles Times, a spokesperson explained that the Obamas didn’t realize they were on camera the first time around… hence the smile and side hug that elicited so many boos from the audience.

The couple was informed of their gaffe by their daughters just after the moment had passed. Luckily, the camera panned back shortly after and this time, the Obamas were ready!

In case you haven’t had enough “aww” in your day, watch the clip of Barack planting an adorable and tasteful kiss on Michelle. Politics aside, that’s pretty darn cute:

New Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer is Pregnant!

By April Sperry on July 17, 2012

What modern mom is on fire this week? Marissa Mayer.

On Monday, she officially accepted a new gig as the CEO of Yahoo. The career-driven Mayer is a graduate of Stanford University and has spent the last 13 years working with Google, having started there in 1999 as the company’s 20th employee.

Now at age 37, Mayer is majorly rearranging her life. On July 16th, the same day that she announced her plans to join Yahoo, she also divulged to Fortune Magazine that she is pregnant!

Mayer stated that when she notified Yahoo of her pregnancy, the company had no qualms about hiring an expecting woman as (major props to Yahoo for their progressivism).

In fact, the Internet giant has even decided to relocate its September board meeting, which was scheduled to be in New York, to Yahoo’s hometown of Sunnyvale, California, in order to save Mayer the hassle of traveling when she is so close to her due date.

Mayer and her husband Zachary Bogue will welcome their first son this October, and it certainly won’t slow things down for Marissa. While she’ll take some time off directly after her birth, Marissa plans to get back to work as soon as possible.

She told Fortune: “My maternity leave will be a few weeks long and I’ll work throughout it.” Come October, she’ll have a lot on her plate, and one of the first lessons she’ll have to learn is how to juggle her time between her high-powered job, and her high-maintenance baby.

Our congratulations to this great lady – Marissa Mayer, you are a role model to girls everywhere. Rock on.

Boy Scouts Uphold Ban on Gays

By April Sperry on July 17, 2012
Boy Scouts Uphold Ban on Gays

They encourage their members to be “trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent,” but apparently Boy Scout Law doesn’t quite extend to being tolerant.

After a secret two-year review, the Boy Scouts of America have emphatically reaffirmed their ban on gay scouts.

An 11-member special committee formed by top Scout leaders “came to the conclusion that this policy is absolutely the best policy for the Boy Scouts,” the organization’s national spokesman, Deron Smith, told The Associated Press.

The anti-gay policy has existed since the BSA’s founding, and was upheld in a controversial 2000 Supreme Court decision. As for the reasoning behind the decision, a statement released by the Scouts’ chief executive, Bob Mazzuca, maintains that both leaders and Scouts overwhelmingly support the policy:

“The vast majority of the parents of youth we serve value their right to address issues of same-sex orientation within their family, with spiritual advisers and at the appropriate time and in the right setting,” Mazzuca wrote. “We fully understand that no single policy will accommodate the many diverse views among our membership or society.”

That’s an interesting perspective.

Here’s another little gem – for a time, the BSA website stated that “Boy Scouts of America believes that homosexual conduct is inconsistent with the obligations in the Scout Oath and Scout Law to be morally straight and clean in thought, word, and deed… As they continue in the program, all Scouts are expected to take leadership positions. In the unlikely event that an older boy were to hold himself out as homosexual, he would not be able to continue in a youth leadership position.”

This wording was removed from the website in February in 2010, probably because it’s ridiculous (and beyond homophobic) to suggest that gay young adults not be capabale of holding leadership positions.

One of the most high-profile cases that’s created controversy involves Jennifer Tyrrell, the mother of a 7-year old Cub Scout who was removed from her position as den leader because she is gay (according to the Scout handbook, women can act as den leaders, but gay adults cannot participate in the program).

The online petition site has collected more than 300,000 signatures of people who are urging the Scouts to reinstate Tyrrell and abandon their exclusion policy. Looks like that’s not going to happen.

Is this bigotry exclusion policy legal? Unfortunately, yes.

Because the BSA is a private institution, that means it has the right to define its membership as it chooses. But just because it’s legal, doesn’t mean it’s right.

What do you think of the BSA’s “no gays allowed” policy?

Four Boys Save Drowning Toddler From Canal

Four Boys Save Drowning Toddler From Canal

Few things are more terrifying than losing track of your baby. It’s every parent’s nightmare – you take your eyes of your child for one moment and suddenly they’re gone.

That’s what happened in the case of three-year-old Alice Falk, of Farmersville, California, who wandered off and fell into a canal near her apartment complex. But in an amazing twist, when Alice’s mother called the local police department’s dispatch center to report the child as missing, officers realized that Alice had already been found.

In an act of small-town heroism, four boys ranging in age from 8 to 17 had saved her. Gilbert Hogan, 17, Victor Vasquez Jr., 12, George Castillo, 13, and Robert Vasquez, 8 spotted the little girl floating unconscious in a canal half a mile downstream of where she had fallen in.

The boys were looking for fish in the canal when they spotted something larger. They initially thought the floating object was a doll, but when they realized that it was pale purple in color, it became apparent that it was actually a young girl who was frighteningly close to death.

According to the Visilia Times-Delta, Alice was unconscious and not breathing when the four boys plunged into the canal and pulled her from the water.

“It was just instinct,” Vasquez told reporters. “At that moment, I forgot everything. I was in shock. I have never experienced anything like that.”

Victor Vasquez, one of the boys’ father, was able to successfully perform CPR on the girl and get her breathing again before an ambulance arrived. Alice is expected to make a full recovery from the incident.

Perhaps even more amazing is the fact that it was a fluke that the boys were even near the creek that evening. The two Vasquez brothers had been told to come home but had gotten permission from their father to play a little longer.

“It was an act of God,” Vasquez told the Fresno Bee. “I think a little angel was right next to her and the kids were able to see her.”

Snooki’s Baby Name Revealed!

By April Sperry on July 13, 2012

We’re one step closer to welcoming the newest “little meatball” into the world!

Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi is due to give birth to her first child this September, and it looks like she’s finally decided on a name for her baby boy.

The 24-year-old reality starlet had been vacillating between the names Jionni Junior (in honor of her fiance Jionni LaValle) and Lorenzo, but the latter officially won out. She made the announcement in an interview of the entire Jersey Shore cast.

Ok.. well technically, she didn’t actually announce it. Her fellow cast members mentioned the name without realizing that Snooki had not made it public yet. Oops!

Snooki then confirmed on camera that she and Jionni had indeed settled on the name Lorenzo. “Because then you can call him ‘Enzo,'” she told Good Morning America.

The name is a nod to the baby’s heritage – in more ways than one. While Jionni was born to an Italian-American family, Snooki was adopted from Chile at the ages of six months by Italian-American parents. We think the name is a beautiful way to honor her adopted family as well as her fiance’s roots.

While some may have doubts about her mothering skills – the once promiscuous and outlandish party-goer has quieted down significantly during her pregnancy and seems to be doing everything right in preparation for her baby.

What do you think about the baby name?

Escaped Python Attacks Baby Sleeping in Crib

By April Sperry on July 11, 2012
Escaped Python Attacks Baby Sleeping in Crib

You’ve done everything in your power to make the house safe for baby.

You’ve plugged the power sockets, cordoned off the staircases with safety gates, and stuck putty on all of the sharpest corners, but have you ever snake-proofed your house?

Most new parents don’t have “warding against scaly danger” on their to-do list!

In Matoon, Illinois, Devin Winans heard his one-year-old son William making noise, so he went to check on him. He reached into the crib without first turning on the light and felt something slimy.

To his surprise (and understandable horror), Winans found a python wrapped around his son’s leg, constricting and trying eat the boy’s foot.

Luckily, he was able to use a blanket to yank the snake off his son and rushed him to an area hospital. The baby only suffered minor injuries.

It is not entirely clear why the snake had attempted to eat the child’s foot, although Coles County Animal Shelter manager Julie Deters notes that – like people – snakes can become cranky and temperamental in the summer heat.

The snake had apparently found its way into Winan’s apartment after escaping from an adjacent apartment in the building. Police are expected to bring charges against the snake’s owner for not having a permit for the python.

This is such a scary example of the fact that no matter how well you try to protect your child from harm, sometimes it’s just out of your control.

What’s the most unexpected danger that has befallen your child? How did you react?

Couple Gets Caught Storing Baby in Carry-On Tote

By April Sperry on July 10, 2012
Couple Gets Caught Storing Baby in Carry-On Tote

“You’re going on a trip? Bring me with you! I can fit in your suitcase!”

While we’ve all said that once or twice in jest, no one’s ever actually tried to stow a person in their carry-on luggage. Until now.

An Egyptian family was detained by airport security staff at the United Arab Emirates’ Sharjah International Airport when official was shocked to discover the outline of a baby in an X-ray of the couple’s carry-on bag. The couple lacked a passport or visa for the 5-month-old infant and as a result, have been denied access to the UAE.

Both parents have valid visas to visit the UAE, but had returned to Egypt while the woman was pregnant so that she could have the baby at home. After they were stopped by officials at the airport for lack of proper documentation for their newborn, they waited for a shift change and then decided to take their chances and attempt to smuggle the child through UAE customs.

It is unclear how the baby made it onto the plane in Egypt without a passport.

The couple has been charged with endangering the life of the five month old baby by exposing it to radiation in the X-ray scanner. As a police official told The Sun, “This machine is very dangerous for anyone, let alone a baby in a bag to pass through.”

Luckily, there have not been any reports so far that the child was harmed by the machine.

Mexican Doctors Remove 33 Pound Tumor from Two Year Old

Mexican Doctors Remove 33 Pound Tumor from Two Year Old

Mexican doctors have successfully removed a 33 pound tumor from Jesus Gabriel, a two-year-old boy.

The child himself only weighs 26 pounds (after the tumor’s removal), meaning that the growth was actually larger than the child.

Dr. Gustavo Hernandez, the director of pediatrics at La Raza Hospital, claims that this is the first time Mexican doctors have removed a growth that was larger than the person carrying it.

The two year old boy, who is from the northern state of Durango, was born with a small lump and over time, it spread from his armpit all the way to his hip. The tumor is benign, but by the time Jesus went under the knife, it was so large and heavy that it was beginning to constrict his oxygen intake.

The surgery was performed over a course of 10 hours on June 14th. Dr. Hernandez reports that the boy is recovering and doing well.

Megan Fox Debuts Her Baby Bump

By April Sperry on June 27, 2012

The rumors are true – “Transformers” star Megan Fox is pregnant and loving it!

Although she and hubby Brian Austin Green have yet to publicly announce that they’re expecting, Fox was spotted looking very pregnant on vacation at the Four Seasons Resort in Hualalai, Hawaii. The couple was married on the island back in 2010.

Sporting an animal-print bikini top and long skirt, Fox was seen showing off her growing bump.

The baby will be the first child for the 26-year-old actress but she has been getting some mommy-training by caring for Green’s 10-year-old son with ex-girlfriend Vanessa Marcil – Kassius Lijah.

Apparently, Green has been very protective of Fox during her pregnancy. Looks like he can’t wait to be a new dad!

Congratulations to Megan and Brian on their growing family!

Janet Evans Tries for 2012 Olympics

Janet Evans Tries for 2012 Olympics

You might remember swimmer Janet Evans from the 1988 South Korea olympics. She was just 17 years old when she won three gold medals in Seoul, and it quickly became clear that she would be a U.S. record-breaker. The impressive swimmer competed in three Olympic games before hanging up her swimsuit at age 24 due to shoulder problems and the simple desire to take a break.

With her swimming career on hold, Janet has married and had two children. She has cultivated a career as an Olympic booster and motivational speaker, and balanced it with the full-time job of motherhood. Fifteen years have passed since her official retirement, but Janet is ready to jump back into the pool. At age 40, she is currently training to swim in the 2012 London Olympic Games.

And she’s really making up for lost time. For the past two years, Janet has trained 6 days per week, swimming 10 miles and weight training for 45 minutes each day. Her training partners are teenagers, just like Janet was for her first Games 24 years ago, but she is motivated, rather than intimidated by her younger peers.

Some have told her that her time is over, and that she should let the younger generation have a chance to compete in the Olympics, but Janet knows that she has another Games in her. And if she can keep up (or beat) the competition, then why not?

Janet will be competing in the 800-meter freestyle Olympic Trials next week and we wish her luck. She deserves it!

Hypnotized Girls Caught in Trance for Five Hours

By April Sperry on June 22, 2012
Hypnotized Girls Caught in Trance for Five Hours

Imagine falling under the trance of a hypnotist…and not waking up for over five hours!

That’s exactly what happened to several girls at Quebec’s private school, Collège du Sacré-Coeur.

Maxime Nadeau, a young hypnotist, performed a typical show for the school’s students, but instead of simply entrancing his subjects, it affected several 12 and 13-year-old audience members as well. He had some trouble waking the girls up, and was reported that one girl was stuck in a trance for over five hours.

He said that he was not concerned about the girls when they would not wake up because a trance is a state of well-being, and the girls were not in any danger. In fact, one affected student later called the entire experience “cool” and said that she would do it again, even knowing about its unexpected consequences.

After hours of unsuccessfully attempting to bring the girls out of their trances, Nadeau called for backup. His mentor and trainer, Richard Whitbread, was able to wake the girls up by telling them he was going to re-hypnotize them and then counting to five in a stern voice.

Strangely, Whitbread claims that the girls may have been especially vulnerable to Nadeau’s hypnotism because of his youth and good looks. What’s more, the school’s principal did not know before the performance that hypnotism is not suggested for children under age 14 because of their increased susceptibility to its effects.

Have you ever been hypnotized?

Baby Soap Can Cause False Positives for Marijuana Exposure

Baby Soap Can Cause False Positives for Marijuana Exposure

Can regular old baby soap cause your newborn to test positive for smoking the reefer?

A recent study has shown that commonly used baby soaps and shampoos – including products from Johnson & Johnson, Aveeno and CVS – can trigger a positive result on an infant’s marijuana screening test.

Researchers at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hillnoticed a sharp rise in babies testing positive for marijuana exposure and began to investigate. They found that most of the results could actually be explained by bath-time: small amounts of soap or shampoo were washing off the baby’s skin and getting into urine samples.

In particular, Johnson & Johnson’s Bedtime Bath, Johnson & Johnson Head-to-Toe Baby Wash, Aveeno Baby Soothing Relief Creamy Wash, Aveeno Baby Wash Shampoo and CVS Night-Time Baby Bath were associated with false positives.

The chemicals polyquaternium 11 and cocamidopropyl betaine, which are found in these soaps, seem to be the triggers, although researchers are not sure why. Less than 0.1 millimeters of the substances is enough to taint test results. Curiously, the soaps do not cause any other symptoms that would point to marijuana exposure, further baffling scientists as to why they cause positive exposure results.

While the soaps are not thought to be harmful to children, a positive read for a drug test of an infant has serious implications, and can lead to lawsuits and even loss of custody of one’s child.

Kindergarten Teacher Orders Students to Slap Bully

By April Sperry on June 19, 2012
Kindergarten Teacher Orders Students to Slap Bully

The old saying is that if you ignore a bully, he’ll stop. One kindergarten teacher at Salinas Elementary School, which is located just outside of San Antonio, Texas, tried a very different method of teaching her class bully a lesson. Six year old Aiden Neely was accused of picking on other students in his class, so his teacher (who remains unidentified) had the other 24 children in her class line up and slap Aiden, one by one. Aiden’s mother claims that her son was hit twice by each child before his punishment was over.

Aiden’s teacher told the boy not to tell his parents about the incident, which occurred in May, and he didn’t. In fact, his parents only learned about the incident weeks later when the school principal called the family.

Both Aiden’s teacher and another teacher who is charged with not reporting the incident have been fired from the school and charged with a misdemeanor. This sentence is not enough for Aiden’s mother, however, who is demanding that Aiden’s teacher never be able to teach in a school again.

Aiden’s mother says: “I just want to make sure that she isn’t able to teach again. I just want to make sure that justice is served for Aiden.”

Based on comments found across the internet, the jury seems to be out on whether or not Aiden’s teacher should be punished for her actions. What are your thoughts?

Texas Father Kills 4-Year-Old Daughter’s Alleged Molester

Texas Father Kills 4-Year-Old Daughter's Alleged Molester

What would you do if you caught someone sexually abusing your four-year-old daughter? What if you knew the perpetrator?

In the town of Shiner, Texas, one father took the law into his own hands when he found his daughter being sexually abused in a horse barn. Neither of the involved parties’ names have been released publicly at this time, but it is known that the perpetrator regularly helped the victim’s father tend his horses.

When the victim’s 23-year-old father caught the perpetrator, age 47, abusing his daughter, he hit him in the head several times, causing the abuser to lose consciousness. The perpetrator died from blunt-force injuries to the head and neck, but the girl’s father has not been charged with any crime. The Lavaca County Sheriff’s department is investigating the incident, and a grand jury will ultimately decide whether or not to press charges.

“He told me that it wasn’t his intent for this individual to lose his life; he was just protecting his daughter,” Sheriff Micah Harmon told Fox News after talking with the child’s dad who had also placed the first call to 911.

The overall sentiment in the town of Shiner seems to be that the girl’s father was justified in his actions and that he should not be punished.

“I think he got what he deserved,” said resident Lewis Mcall. The below video, from CNN, revealed that reporters could not find anyone in the town who thought that the girl’s father should be charged with a crime for defending his daughter:

What do you think? How far would you go to protect your children?

Girl Banned From Prom After Missing School to Mourn Uncle’s Death

By April Sperry on June 1, 2012
Girl Banned From Prom After Missing School to Mourn Uncle's Death

From elaborate corsages and formal gowns to stretch limos, senior prom is a rite of passage in high school.

It’s a night that Kaley Hughes will never forget… but for all the wrong reasons. The Massachusetts teenager arrived at her prom, dressed to the nines, only to be told that she would not be allowed inside because she had not attended school that day, as per the policy at Triton Regional High School.

While it was true that Hughes had been absent, she wasn’t cutting class for the heck of it. She spent the day with her family, grieving for her uncle, who had passed away earlier in the week of end stage liver-failure.

Amidst the tragedy, Kaley’s mother suggested that she still attend the prom to take her mind off of things. But in the midst of making the funeral arrangements, she neglected to call the school and explain Kaley’s absence.

As she told news, “Because everything was so last minute, we had put the prom on the back burner, while we took care of everything for the funeral. And for them to be so cold about the whole thing.”

Kaley stood in front of her high school, crying, as she was informed that the school principal would not bend the rules. “It hit me like a ton of bricks. I thought they were kidding at first,” she said.

Her parents even returned to the school to explain the situation but Kathryn Dawe, the school principal, refused to budge. Saddened, disappointed, and rather shocked, the family returned home.

In this situation, it seems unbelievable that administrators wouldn’t make an exception to their policy. Rules are meant to be followed, but not in lieu of common sense. I’m calling foul on this principal’s decision to punish an already grieving young girl.

Let’s just hope the school issued Kaley and her entire family an apology for the unfortunate incident.

"Cleaning Fairy" Breaks Into Houses and Cleans Them

Want to keep your home from being entered and cleaned against your will? Better lock your doors and windows!

Today in wacky news, we bring you the story of an Ohio woman who is a cleaning intruder. That’s right – she enter’s people homes when they’re away and tidies up.

On the one hand, it sort of sounds great. I mean, who wouldn’t love to come home to find their house all straightened up? But you might like it a lot less when you see her fee. Warren leaves a handwritten bill for $75 in the houses that she decides to clean.

One recipient of Warren’s services, shocked by the bill for $75 that she found in her kitchen, called the number Warren left on the napkin invoice. Sherry Bush told CNN that when she asked Warren if a mistake had been made, she learned that the cleaning had been intentional and that Warren fully expected to be paid for her services.

In fact, Warren says she does this all the time; in fact, she even created a company page for her cleaning business on, however, in light of recent events, her customer reviews are less than desirable.

While it’s unclear exactly how long this has been going on, she was previously charged with criminal trespassing for a similar incident in another Cleveland suburb.

What would you do if this “cleaning fairy” entered your home and tidied up? Pay the bill or press charges?
